Stet A proofreader’s mark, written in the margin, signifying that copy marked for corrections should remain as it was.
As I mentioned before, I have spent the last couple of days reviewing manuscripts for a journal. By some strange coincidence I came across Thomas Sowell's web site, which includes a nice essay entitled Some thoughts about writing, where the word stet is used. The section on editing is quite funny.
