Bleat / Bleating
My cat persuades me to play with her several times a day with a bleating sound that is irresistible. She sounds like a little sheep.

A bleating cat. That's one for the books. It almost sounds like a British phrase (albeit derisive): "Ah, you and your bleating cat!"
It appears bleat may have some etymological questions hiding in its roots, too. Some sources say it's related to weep, while others say it's origins are unknown. Let's hope the Good Doctor can dig away at this and give us a nice biopsy.
I know, that's a weak play, but it's all I can come up with. Could someone do better, please?

Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
