galvanic

Postby Klimt » Wed Nov 10, 2010 3:32 pm

1. Of or relating to direct-current electricity, especially when produced chemically.

2. Having the effect of an electric shock; startling; shocking: the galvanic effect of his speech.

3. stimulating; energizing: Her galvanic presence brought the party to life.

The haste, and, as it were, the galvanic impulse of the movement, were really quite startling.

The draught produced a galvanic effect, a violent trembling pervaded the old man's limbs, his eyes opened until it was fearful to gaze upon them, he heaved a sigh which resembled a shriek, and then his convulsed body returned gradually to its former immobility, the eyes remaining open.

It happened when he was studying in Paris, and just at the time when, over and above his other work, he was occupied with some galvanic experiments.
Whoever wants to know something about me - as an artist which alone is significant - they should look attentively at my pictures and there seek to recognise what I am and what I want.

Galvanic electricity was used to line the metal with another metal, usually zinc.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
