What a great rare word! Wherever did you find it?
Welcome back to the Agora, by the way. Where have you been hiding? I've missed your "left-field" suggestions.
Of course, given our whole-grain society, do we do this anymore?

Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
Excellent choice.
Exacinate lends itself to metaphorical extension; to extract the meaning or essence of something, like a proverb. Proverbs are "kernels of wisdom." To interpret a proverb is to extract the kernel of embedded wisdom. For instance, " One swallow does not a summer make" cautions us to avoid jumping to overly-optimistic conclusions based on insufficient evidence. That would be an example of exacination.
