Primogeniture

Postby Brazilian dude » Tue Jun 21, 2005 10:53 am

I'd like to put forth primogeniture, not that I'm entitled to anything, I'm the second born.

Interesting to note that while primogeniture has often prevailed among male heirs in different societies, ultimogeniture seems to reign on the distaff side. But of course, this hasn't yet been adequately researched among chimps and bonobos....

君子敬而无失,与人恭而有礼,四海之内 皆兄弟也。君子何患乎无兄弟也?

BD, I am the first-born, but I will not get anything. My parents told me and my brother: 'you got love and the best education we could give you, so do not expect anything else'. End of story.

As a matter of fact, Flam, like both BD and Sima Niu I don't have any brothers, so I, too, find Zixia's comment to the effect that all within the Four Seas are brothers (or better, siblings, as we very much need our sisters as well) encouraging. Here's a link to the source from which I quoted - just scroll down to 12.5....

Who knows what my dad was up to in his peregrinations after he left. I can say one thing for certain: my mom didn't have any other children after me and my brother.

That's not quite what I was getting at, BD, but it's a valid point, as all we peregrinators needs must recognise....
