Pelf (noun)

Wealth, money, riches, especially when acquired dishonestly or regarded with scorn; filthy lucre.

[From Old French pelfre, booty.]

"Times are hard for most of us, but the bankers continue to collect their pelf."

"The gangster flaunted his pelf in the presence of police officers."

Great word, let's hope it gets taken up in the future. It ranks right up there with gelt.

Can one use and elf to pilfer pelf?
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
