Palinode

Postby Slava » Wed May 02, 2012 8:54 pm

This one came up in a crossword puzzle. It means, in a rare usage, a retraction. It's mostly used to speak of when a poet takes back something said in an earlier poem.

I bet a certain former Presidential candidate wishes he could have made a Palinode a few years ago.

Which former presidential candidate do you mean? It could apply to all former and present candidates to political office.

I guess I should have highlighted the relevant part of the word:

PALINode.
