trite

Postby eberntson » Thu May 24, 2012 10:04 pm

trite audio (trt) KEY

ADJECTIVE:
trit·er, trit·est

Lacking power to evoke interest through overuse or repetition; hackneyed.
Archaic Frayed or worn out by use.

ETYMOLOGY:
Latin trtus, from past participle of terere, to wear out; see ter-1 in Indo-European roots

OTHER FORMS:
tritely(Adverb), triteness(Noun)

Small word, a bit over used, I think, at least misused. :wink:
EBERNTSON
Fear less, hope more;
eat less, chew more;
whine less, breathe more;
talk less, say more,
and all good things will be yours.

Small word, a bit overused. Are you saying trite is trite or merely a cliche?
