I abhor, detest, abominate and despise Blimpie, Subway, and po’ boy sandwiches; a lot of bread and little meat.
Unless you're a [semi-]regular customer...

I used to wind up telling the counterpeople "don't give me the whole cow/turkey/whatever" when I got a sandwich at a deli, since they liked to pile up just enough meat to force you to take the sandwich apart in order to eat it. The recession seems to have taken care of that, though...

Haven't tried Quiznos yet, but a coworker keeps promising to treat me to one of their toasted subs.

Hey! He wrote draw! If he'd wanted a CGI he could have posted his request on Industrial Light & Magic's FB page!

I'm sure he'll be pleased with the thought, anyway.

Now, Dave, should you so desire, you also know how to give yourself an avatar.

By the by, it's no thanks to me. It is all to gzer's credit. He was long the best about telling people how to do things. 'Tis a shame he seems to have left the fold. (Hmm, appropriate for speaking of sheep, eh?)

Also, in case you haven't noticed, and for others out there, when you change your signature/tag line or avatar, it's universal. Every post you've ever made will show the current one, not the old one. If you wish to preserve one, go to Tagline Graveyard, a thread started by the very same stargzer.

misterdoe: Sorry, I just forgot all the words. The original stream of negatives I was trying to recite is from a poem that you perhaps also know. It begins:

"I loathe, abhor, detest, despise,
Abominate dried-apple pies."
by Shadigo Claws

I was raised on fried dried apple pies and they are much better than thick bread sandwiches.
It is dark at night, but the Sun will come up and then we can see.

My above 'thar she blows' was in response to a picture
of the Goodyear Blimp which showed up when I clicked
on the email to the thread. But it no longer seems to be
there. I have no idea what happened.

OK, I see now, it is a page back and there have been lots
of intervening posts. Sorry.

Well, thank you all very much.
The quote comes from Antoine de Saint-Exupery's book
of about 96 pages called "The Little Prince"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Prince

wherein a prince from another small planet about the size
of a school bus, has a rose, and she is very particular.
He sets out on a journey of the universe to get her a
present. He lands on earth, meets a downed pilot in
the desert and asks the pilot to draw him a sheep.
The book makes several profound and idealistic observations
about human beings and life in general.

I taught the book when years ago I was teaching
second year French. It was the perfect size book for a
semester and kept the attention of the students.

Once again profound thanks for your endeavor.

Like many, I used to think that blimp and dirigible were interchangeable words. It was an enlightened day when I discovered they weren't. I can't imagine referring to the Hindenberg as a blimp (as opposed to a dirigible, which it is -- or Zeppelin, if you prefer). An interesting website on the subject is www.airships.net/dirigible. We used to have a Blimpie's here in town but it went out of business. Not enough patronage, probably because the sandwiches weren't that good. Just my opinion, having eaten there twice. The B-limp reference was interesting! Now I know how the term came to be.
