I don't remember seeing this one proposed, and it hasn't been done yet, so I thought I'd toss it out there and see if anyone wishes to catch it.
Most often seen in the phrase mnemonic device, it refers to a means of remembering something. As I'm a bit of a wag and like to play with words, and I have a particularly thick skull at times, I like to call such things "pneumatic" devices. I have to drill it into my head, so to speak.
