Group Poem XIV
This poem will have a Halloween-inspired theme.
It will have 5 stanzas of 5 lines each, rhyming AABBB, CCDDD, EEFFF etc. The first 4 lines of each stanza will be in iambic hexameter (12 syllables each), and the last line of the stanza will be a short line of iambic dimeter (4 syllables). The second and fourth lines of each stanza shall include one word of at least 4 syllables, which should be shown in red. Here are the title and first line:

[First line changed to avoid using "dead" twice]
The bathos in line 5 is deliberate.
