Obviously, at least to me, an entirely negative word. Might we not also apply it however, when complaining to our local grocery store?

"My, it seems to me your lettuce is a tad superannuated, wouldn't you say?"

"Gee, the sell by date on these hot dogs is from last month. I do believe that means they are superannuated."
