gnash

Postby William Hupy » Thu Feb 07, 2013 1:02 pm

Is this word only to be used in conjunction with teeth? For the life of me I can not think of a single instance when it has been used otherwise. What else is gnashed or gnashable? In other words what has gnashosity besides teeth? We need an entirely gnew set of words.

There are a few references on the web to "gnashing gears". It sounds more vivid than "grinding".

Well, you beat me to it, Audiendus. This one popped into my head when I read the original post. Then I doubted myself. Gears are teeth, after all.

There is a slang meaning of gnash. I think the g might be pronounced in this usage, but I'm not sure since my children are way past being teens. In my generation we said swell or peachy keen.
