How "English" is Changing

Postby Slava » Thu Mar 28, 2013 6:44 pm

The Internet is doing lots of unexpected things. Among them, bring to the fore many blends of what most of us call English.

I have to say, "stadium" is perfect.

Thanks for the link. It's fascinating. I did not know that the number of those with English as a second language now outnumbers those of us who speak it as primary.

The net does expand one's language reach. On Twitter I follow people who speak several languages as long as they are Latin based. It's easy to see Spanish variations, and even people mixing the two. What doth the net wreak?

I believe you mean "What doth the net work?" or perhaps "The net moves in mysterious ways, its wonders to work"

I was playing with the quote "what hath God wrought." should have recast it to make the past tense viable.

What doth the net wreak?
When a server isn't, or a website is down, or a spammer hath struck, it's more "why doth the net reek?"

That is why I often refer to the beast as the Internot.
