The above guest is me. It's sooo good that I can type Japanese directly into the input field. うれしいな。

It's interesting to note that on answering, I can view the Hebrew in a much nicer font.

One huge problem arises for me, though. I had planned to devote this semester completely to Chinese, but now I'm tempted to get into Japanese, which I know from nothing (/Tom Lehrer), as well.

At least I understand sufficiently to appreciate Flam's discreet correction of my too hasty choice from the input box.

再见

Hello everybody !

Strangest and, at the same time, nicest of all, is to verify that Katy is now a mere Junior !!! :)

Postby KatyBr » Thu Feb 24, 2005 11:03 am

yeah, wink, I am wondering how I'll ever get out of junior mode as 50 was the fisrt Agora's benchmark and I'm at 81!

Katy
sheee, the indignity. Keeping in mind I had a few years' worth of posting on you. Welcome.

Nice to see you on the forum, wquinette ! Katy lives, I believe, inside her PC, so she'll no doubt outrun us all even without a few years headstart, but it makes a pleasant change - at least for me - to join a forum in reasonable temporal proximity to its beginning. But by the way, how's it going with your Finnish studies ?...

NOT EXACTLY INSIDE

Postby KatyBr » Thu Feb 24, 2005 1:18 pm

I don't exactly live in but since Im self employed I live near my pc. Actually it was I who spent a bit of time inviting the old agorans to stop by here. Only in the most tactful way of course.

Yes, tactful indeed, not mentioning my age in picking me as an old agoran. Tons of thanks, if I haven't said so before.

I meant, of course Agorans from the old Agora, Old doesn't always refer to age but also to former or original.

Of course, and I do try to be original. I think that I already have quoted Tom Lehrer on orignal sins.

Since I can sort of pronounce it, let me try to see some cognates!

παιδια -Children (pediatrist)

ευχαριστώ- grateful (eucharist)

πρόσκληση- lean forward (proclisis)

συνέχεια- stick together (synechia)

σας - your (sus) [wild guess]

την - the (ta)

γιά- (don't know)

Γεια- Geia (Spartan form ga = earth, Gaia)

kaleidoscope

So, something like:

Gaia your children, grateful for the reaching out, beautiful sticking together!
