G-Rated Limericks

Postby Dr. Goodword » Tue May 21, 2013 10:07 pm

We have added a significant number of limericks--g-rated but funny nonetheless. We have a growing number of limericks written by our readers. Click here for a shortcut.

Slava's cited link will, in fact, lead to a page that is quite replete with limericks of all class and color (that is, shades of white).

What's missing is a Search function that would allow the would-be submitter hshr--a concise way of writing "his or her"--to determine whether a particular gem has already had its 15 minutes of fame. Or, in my case, whether one that was sent was received and is posted in there somewhere.

As it is so basic to the subject of limericks--and will also give me an opportunity to slip in for GoodWord consideration the word "limerick" and its relation (if any) to the city in Ireland--I'll repeat what I maintain should have been the seminal entry on the subject:
A limerick packs laughs anatomical
Into space that is quite economical.
But the good ones I've seen are so seldom clean
And the clean ones are so seldom comical!
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "to talk of many things...."

Here is one from Steve Parris about alphaDictionary:

The Alpha Agora might boast
Of limericks cleaner than most
But when rhymers start cookin'
And nobody's lookin'
They write stuff they never could post.
