A New to Me -ology

Postby Slava » Mon Oct 07, 2013 12:27 pm

Palynology - the study of pollens and spores. The word that led me to this was melissopalynology - the study of the pollen in honey to trace its origins.

Not to be confused with palinology - the study of Sarah.

Doubting that this would make the cut for a GWotD, I'm putting it down here. :D

Well, that would most likely be paleopalynology, which, I gather, is quite important to understanding ancient life. Those little spores and pollen that scientists are somehow able to find and study tell us a great deal about the ancient world.
