Is there an adjective form, "precipitatory," or is this just a forward formation?
(As in a "precipitatory event")
It is quite common on the internet!
If there is an impending precipitatory event, and I have to operate a motor vehicle during the time in which that event will be occurring, then West Springfield will not have plowed, sanded, or salted a single road on whatever route I am taking.
Yet instead of taking a common-sense approach, the BCCI chose the precipitatory option of putting Ahmedabad in the itinerary.
Not that I trust people on the internet to use real words all the time!

For those unable to qualify the event in question as rain, snow, sleet, or hail, etc, an alternative to «precipitatory event» would be «precipitation», which has the advantage of being a recognised term in meteorology. But why restrict oneself to the use of one word when two will do ?...

Do I need one ? I'm not the one that rains, snows, etc ; it's that famous «it» ! Besides, my objection was not to an adjective precipitatory», but to the noun phrase «precipitatory event»....

Sure! I understand your objection to "precipitatory event" used in the context of "precipitation," but what about its use in other contexts:
Precipitatory event = situation at hand
Anyway, this can all wait until the Doctor tells us if it is a word or not!
