Algid

Postby Grogie » Fri Dec 09, 2005 3:34 pm

I thought this might be another interesting word for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere beginning to feel the wrath of winter. It,s another word for ''cold''

Trolling old posts can be quite rewarding. You meet interesting wacky words, and are reminded of past posters. Where did our Grogie go? He used to come up with such nice oddities.

This one will have late-season meaning here in the Finger Lakes, as Monday night's overnight low is forecast to be all of 9F. Not as algid as some places, though. My brother lives in St. Paul, which isn't all that far south from the place they test car batteries in winter, to make sure they can keep a charge in extreme temperatures. Algid, frigid, frosty, and really cold, all in one.
