I remembered this rarely used word today. It,s a winged, one-seeded fruit of an ash, elm or maple tree.

Good to know for those of us who thought it, despite its unique helical minaret, a place (now also spelled Samarra), in which it was inadvisable to make appointments for meetings....

Samara is also a nice city in Russia (on the Volga river, it was named Kuybyshev under the Soviets).
