smote

Postby Brazilian dude » Thu Jan 12, 2006 10:23 am

I know smite, smote, smitten is not a very common word, but I heard Whoopie Goldberg and some other people use smote on her show as a past participle and an infinitive. If you think smote is the infinite, pretty soon you'll have smoted and smoting  , won't you?

Ooops, somebody already is

smoting
smoted

Ahhh, smote brings back fond memories of the SCA and that lovely hymn, "A Grazing Mace". (I learned it as "...that smote my foe for me.")
