I'm so disappointed that no one has replied to my horrible play on words. Confused

Certainly didn't want to hurt your feelings. Actually, I thought it was fantastic! Didn't respond because I'm not imaginative enough to respond in kind...
I love a good pun!

I just saw your reply, Tim. Excellent!

Perry, we know you're out there...somewhere...grieving that you didn't get to this one first!

Sometimes you just hit the sweet spot, Tim. I for one can't think how Uberty/Dearth can be improved (already I'm capitalising in awe).

Oh I tried. I thought, puberty? scorch dearth? ube job? Ultimately I tore my hair out in despair, threw my notes heavenward and wandered the streets muttering incoherently, a beaten man.

Same here, Tim. Sluggo is a bigger man than I, because I certainly couldn't admit to being beaten. No one responded because they couldn't improve on it. Notice no one has yet?
I just curled into the fetal position and despaired of my place in this world.

If you're going that route, Skin, can I have despair place?
See you at the mission.

You bet. You can use my whip for self-flagellation when I'm done with it.

And I didn't say anything simply because I didn't get it. Embarassed Isn't it funny that the penny dropped immediately the second time I read it without having read everyone else's comments first? Maybe my brain needs some adaptation time.

No, just more familiarity with the words of a firebrand of the American Revolution, Patrick Henry, and the ultimate line of his most famous speech.

Quote:
Are deer so rife, or pears so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chins and slobbery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me uberty or give me dearth!

More about Patrick Henry from Colonial Williamsburg.

Tim,

In fact, I think I'll do the word and use your example, if you don't mind.
