Clearly the author here doesn't know the Jesus of that same Bible. Also, The National Day of Prayer is about seeking God's face as a nation, not boasting or pride. So, theses verses are not applicable to The National Day of Prayer. Jesus was speaking of the Pharisees and the Sadducees who prayed just for show. Open and public prayer is all through out the Bible! Clearly the author here doesn’t know the Jesus of that same Bible. To apply what Jesus said in Mathew 6 to concerned Christians recognizing the terrible condition our country is in, coming together to call our nation to repentance and prayer is absolutely crazy. What are their "promotional efforts", if you would investigate the history of this event and read the clearly stated goals of this event, you wouldn't have judged their motives, unless you have motives in judging them. By the way the scriptures also say, "Judge not lest yeh be judged". I can’t believe your article.
