The world is becoming smaller by the day.....with more number of news channels running 24 hours in a day. The reasons for wanting to work at home instead of a workplace away from home can easily be imagined; the roles of male and female, married or single are neutralizing rapidly.
Now both look after housekeeping, raising kids, working part-time during student years, do shopping, manage bank accounts, keep a social group, do partying and hundreds of other activities depending on who and legitimate online business what they are, their family responsibilities, personal aspirations and so on.
With increasing population, traffic etc, it is becoming less and less enjoyable to travel to any workplace near or far everyday which drains a good part of your time and energy in just reaching there and returning back especially in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, New York etc.
More importantly, the creativity and efficiency of the truly artistic, dedicated and sensitive workers is often tampered by typical office politics, headstrong bosses, illogical pay structure and various other conventional office decorum which are losing their meaning in the present context.

an Indian company instead of a U.S. based company. That is because it is easier to trace, contact (no ISD calls required) a company in your own country instead of one abroad. You see what I mean! If you could get the name, address, phone no. of an Indian company which is advertising work online, you could even go there personally to verify and understand the work profile before actually starting work. This you can not do with a foreign country.
However it is just too tempting to work for foreign companies simply because of the dollar-rupee ratio and the superb marketing they do for their jobs, products etc.
Finally I would say that the computer age is here for sure and very soon contacting, working through computers alone will be a common phenomenon. We can do well by learning the skills of working online i.e. on the computer, peacefully at home and earning. It is certainly possible and is happening all around us.
Many of these sites require some registration fee ranging anywhere between $5 - $500 which may sound abominable depending on your pocket. While many sites are 'not so trustworthy', many others do deliver the promised goods; training material, job work and payment on time. Getting the phone number, address and contacting them before starting work can give you an insight to such work and with such knowledge you can not only work for them but also start your own online business networking. As referral marketing also called direct selling i.e. selling without advertising on television, hoardings etc is catching on in the society, online marketing can fetch you many customers and good sales. In fact creating a website as well as promoting a website is no more a web-designers' exclusive fields anymore. Anybody can start and run his/her business on the computer i.e. online and be successful at it.
Few things to do before venturing into online work or online business are to get acquainted with the pc or personal computer and various Microsoft office features like ms-word, ms-powepoint etc and some handy tips like short-cuts to cut, copy, paste, save, using floppy discs etc. Having an inclination towards internet, how to use search engines and small technical errors common to computers, internet can surely save time and energy
