Titanium Wedding band
Titanium is a chemical element; in the periodic table it has the symbol Ti and atomic number 22.It is a light, strong, lustrous, corrosion-resistant (including resistance to sea water and chlorine) transition metal with a white-silvery-metallic color.
Wedding Band
A weddingring or weddingband consists of precious metal ring, in some countries (UK, USA) worn on the base of the left ring finger, the fourth finger (counting from the thumb) of the left hand. In most other parts of the world, it is worn on the right ring finger. Such a ring symbolizes marriage; a spouse wears it to indicate a marital commitment to fidelity. The European custom of wearing such a ring has spread widely beyond Europe.
Titanium Wedding Bands
Most religious marital ceremonies accept a band of any material to symbolize the taking of marriage vows, with unusual substitutions permitted in marriages under unusual circumstances. When people cannot obtain or adjust a metal ring of appropriate size, substitutions such as rubber bands may be used.To make wedding rings, jewelers most commonly use a precious yellow alloy of gold, hardened with
Titanium has recently become a popular material for wedding bands, due to its durability, affordability, and gunmetal grey color. Tungsten carbide, often with gold or platinum inlays, is recently being used as well. Titanium rings can be removed quite easily using the same jewelers tools as for precious metal rings.Titanium's unique properties make it an excellent choice for a wedding band, although it's very different than gold or platinum. It's a very lightweight metal, almost like aluminum, weighing only 1/3 as much as gold. Many people prefer this light feel because they hardly notice they are wearing a titanium ring at all.Its grayish color is close to white, but a few shades darker than platinum and white gold, more like the color of stainless steel, or gun-metal gray.
Titanium is often marketed as being scratch-resistant.Although titanium is a very hard and durable metal, it can still be scratched by abrasive materials like rocks, sandpaper, and even hardened steel tools and utensils. The good news is that any jeweler in the area should be able to make an individual's titanium ring look new again with a little polishing. Titanium rings look great and have a nice shine when they have been polished.Due to the incredible strength and durability of titanium, it is difficult to cut and shape compared to gold, silver and platinum. Because of this unique nature, re-sizing these rings is nearly impossible; therefore, great care must be taken when sizing the finger. It is possible to slightly increase a titanium ring's size by removing a small amount of material from the inside surface, but it isn't possible to make it smaller.
