Many investors target specific sectors or industries through sector funds or personalized stock portfolios. iShares make it simple to get sector or industry exposure in a diversified, cost-effective way. ETFs offer the advantage of trading an index portfolio with the ease of stock trading. Investors can purchase ETF shares on margin, short sell shares, or hold for the long term. Investors also achieve market exposure consistent with the Index on which they are based, through one security. ETFs are also designed to be cost efficient because they are based on an Index, rather than being actively managed.

Conclusion:
In an industry plagued with skepticism and a stock market increasingly difficult to predict and contend with, if one looks hard enough there may still be a genuine aid for the Day Trader and Short Term Investor.
Some studies have shown that the mathematical analysis of stock movements does not work. Technical and Fundamental Analysts are proven wrong time and again, and with good reason - the numbers, formulas and charts that Analysts generate and use do not take into account that real people are trading stocks. No matter how experienced a Trader may be, there will always be a degree of subjectivity or even emotion involved in every trade. Hence the rallies and retreats, the Bulls and the Bears. Everyone trading stocks probably knows this, but not everyone stops to consider this or can properly gauge it.
An innovative analytical system - Adaptive Algorithm Technology or Vulture AAT - is the analysis engine behind this web site. What this system does, which puts it in a category of its own, is poll Traders and Investors for their opinion on all the stocks it tracks. This is done each day and makes for a system that is extremely complex, although the concept behind it is simple. By creating close to 30 unique indicators for each security, and by monitoring Traders reactions to changes in those indicator values, we are able to predict stock movements with higher accuracy utilizing three major components - technical, fundamental, and Investor sentiment.
Analysis allows you to find the opportunities and then you choose the most effective strategy for that particular opportunity and implement it well and adapt as necessary. Whether you are doing Technical or Fundamental analysis or both it is important to learn your craft. If you want to find great opportunities than you need to use analysis to spot the potential opportunities.
Choose a system that suits you. Do you love to read Profit and Loss statements, earnings reports and scan the news services for the companies and sectors that you are interested in Do you find patterns interesting and getting to know at what levels something finds resistance and support Personally I think that a combination of technical and fundamental analysis is the most powerful. If you are a long term investor like Warren Buffet then fundamental analysis is great. Warren Buffet does very well indeed with picking companies that suit his criteria for long term growth and he understands compounding interest and its effects like a master.
That style suits him perfectly and he does it very well:
Could you imagine trying to Day trade using only fundamental analysis You might get the first trade of the day right based on overnight news but the rest on the day would be just guessing.
Technical analysis is great at spotting trends and allowing you to take profits from the market based on repeatable patterns. If you use technical analysis you can still get clobbered by a negative earnings report or bad news in the market sector. The purists will tell you that can be read in the chart but why take the risk. With the technology available today it takes very little time to monitor the major market announcements.
Spend the time to master a system that suits you and keep working it until you totally understand it and can glean what is most likely to happen with a trade with a minimum of fuss. Then you can start to add the subtler touches to your trading. Start adding the art to your science.
