Congratulations, Kids! You've completed learning the next round of vocabulary words, and now it's time to review.

Hear It!

design

Which Means:

The plan or outline for making something.

As In:

Image Raymond and Marla were planning the design of their dream home.

Heads Up!

By an accident of design, the G in 'design' is silent!

Hear It!

mold

Which Means:

A container that makes a shape when something is poured in it.

As In:

Image Heidi made Jell-O in a mold and this is the shape it took.

Heads Up!

'Mold' also means the fungus that grows when something is decaying: Hopefully your Jell-O mold isn't full of mold! In England they spell this word 'mould'.

Hear It!

architecture

Which Means:

The science of designing buildings or the style of building itself.

As In:

Image Gothic architecture is know for its pointed arches.

Heads Up!

The CH in architecture is not pronounced CH but K.

pillar

Which Means:

A column or post that supports a roof.

As In:

Image Here you can see several pillars supporting the roof. Some pillars are simply decoration.

Heads Up!

The word pillar has two pillars in it! What are they?

Hear It!

temple

Which Means:

A place for religious worship and prayer.

As In:

Image Temples exist all over the world.

Heads Up!

Temples also exist on your head--the left and right sides of your forehead.
