Congratulations, Kids! You've completed learning the next round of vocabulary words, and now it's time to review.

Hear It!

frequently

Which Means:

Occurring often.

As In:

Image Cecilia eats fruit frequently.

Heads Up!

The QU here has a KW sound.

rhinorrhea

Which Means:

A severe runny nose common with a sickness or allergies.

As In:

Image Mother, would you fetch me a tissue? I have a case of rhinorrhea!

Heads Up!

Two Greek words make up 'rhinorrhea': 'rhinos' means 'of the nose' and 'rhoia' means 'flowing'. What other word has 'rhino' in it?

buffet

Which Means:

A meal where you serve yourself from a table of different food dishes.

As In:

Image At our cousin's wedding they had a buffet that would satisfy anyone's appetite.

Heads Up!

The T at the end of 'buffet' is silent, as in 'ballet'.

Which Means:

A journal that is written in daily.

As In:

Image Clark always kept a diary, writing in it faithfully.

Be careful not to confuse this word with 'dairy'! It only takes the switch of the A and I to misspell this word.

Which Means:

To brag about and exaggerate how good something is.

As In:

Image If you ask Clyde about his strength, he'll boast about how much he can lift!

This word boasts two vowels: O and A.

hail

Which Means:

Balls of ice that form in clouds and range from the size of a pea to a baseball .

As In:

Image The hail during the storm last night damaged their car.

Heads Up!

Individual balls of ice are called "hailstones".

reliable

Which Means:

Dependable, able to be counted on for support.

As In:

Image My watch is not very reliable at all! It starts and then stops!

The stress is on the LI syllable in this word. The verb form is 'rely', in which the Y changes to I to add the suffix ABLE.

attack

Which Means:

To hurt by using force or violence.

As In:

Image The dog likes to attack the mailman's bag.

Heads Up!

'Attack' is strong enough to have two Ts.

maze

Which Means:

A kind of puzzle in which you must find your way out by following the right path and avoiding dead ends.

As In:

Image Have you ever gotten lost in a maze?

Heads Up!

Another word for a maze is 'labyrinth'. Practice using a dictionary for this one!

diminish

Which Means:

To make or become less and less.

As In:

Image "Let our hope not diminish!" said the president, encouraging the people.

Heads Up!

Do not diminish the number of Is in this word: it has three!
