Congratulations, Kids! You've completed learning the next round of vocabulary words, and now it's time to review.

Hear It!

lettuce

Which Means:

A leafy plant or the edible (okay to eat) leaves of this plant.

As In:

Image Rabbits love the lettuce from our garden, so we had to build a fence to keep them out.

Heads Up!

Lettuce' sounds like 'Let us,' but isn't spelled the same way!

Hear It!

maple

Which Means:

A type of tree or the hard wood of this tree, valued for furniture and hardwood floors.

As In:

Image Canada's national tree is the maple.

Heads Up!

You are probably most familiar with maple syrup, which comes from the sugar maple tree!

Hear It!

fellow

Which Means:

A man or boy.

As In:

Image Russell might look tough, but he's a good fellow!

Heads Up!

'Fellow' also means a friend or someone you work with: a fellow teammate or fellow classmate. In this sense it's an adjective.

bottle

Which Means:

A hollow container, usually of glass or pottery, with a narrow neck or mouth, used for holding liquids or small items.

As In:

Image On their exploration in the woods, they found an old brown medicine bottle.

Heads Up!

Imagine that the two Ts in the middle of 'bottle' are the cork.

Hear It!

flavor

Which Means:

The taste of something.

As In:

Image Bradley's face puckered at the lemon's sour flavor.

Heads Up!

Remember to spell this word with a -OR. What words describe the flavor of foods?
