Congratulations, Kids! You've completed learning the next round of vocabulary words, and now it's time to review.

Hear It!

shallow

Which Means:

Not deep.

As In:

Image The bear stands in a shallow pool of water.

Heads Up!

This word can also describe people, meaning someone who is fake or doesn't have a deep character or mind.

organization

Which Means:

The process of making something orderly, neat, and efficient (easy to use).

As In:

Image Beth was a master at organization.

Heads Up!

An organization can also be a group of people who work together for a certain purpose, like a recycling organization at your school.

Hear It!

nectar

Which Means:

A sweet fluid made by flowers to attract birds or insects.

As In:

Image The hummingbird fed on the nectar of the flower.

Heads Up!

Nectar has an AR at the end.

kudos

Which Means:

Praise and honor, congratulations.

As In:

Image The group gave kudos to George for his job well done.

Heads Up!

Kudos' is used with a singular verb: Kudos is in order for Karen!

Hear It!

speechless

Which Means:

Momentarily unable to speak because of shock.

As In:

Image Macy was speechless at the text message she received.

Heads Up!

Speechless can also describe a condition in which a person is unable to speak: Sandra has been speechless since her stroke. She has found new ways to communicate.

bribe

Which Means:

An illegal gift or favor given to someone for a favor in return.

As In:

Image The man gave a bribe to the judge to lessen his prison sentence.

Heads Up!

'Bribe' can also be the verb (action): Wanda likes to bribe her friends.

vast

Which Means:

Wide, open, and unlimited.

As In:

Image From the mountain top, the vast sky surrounded us.

Heads Up!

Even the word 'vast' sounds vast!

Hear It!

nightfall

Which Means:

The time of day when the sun sets.

As In:

Image We stayed on the beach and gazed at the vast ocean until nightfall.

Heads Up!

Which Means:

An offer, a proposal of a price.

As In:
