Which Means:

Having to do with the mouth.

As In:

Image On Monday she had to give an oral report, not a written one.

Heads Up!

The O in 'oral' represents the mouth!

joint

Which Means:

The connection between any two oblong objects.

As In:

Image The elbow is an example of one joint in the body.

Heads Up!

A joint will 'join' two parts together.

Hear It!

particle

Which Means:

A tiny bit, a speck, an very small amount.

As In:

Image A particle flew into her eye and irritated it.

Heads Up!

A particle is a 'part' of something.

Hear It!

reaction

Which Means:

Any action in response to another action, a response to an event.

As In:

Image Mother's reaction to the baby's antics was not a good one.

Heads Up!

Actions have reactions!

Hear It!

substance

Which Means:

The physical matter or stuff that something is made from.

As In:

Image They could not tell what the brown substance was in the bottle.

Heads Up!

The prefix 'sub' means 'under', so substance means something that lies under, the basic thing that makes up something.
