edge

Which Means:

The border or brim of a surface or object.

As In:

Image The goat was hanging on the edge of the cliff.

Heads Up!

Es are on the edges of 'edge'!

angle

Which Means:

The shape made by two lines that meet.

As In:

Image A protractor will help you measure an angle of any size.

Heads Up!

Letters are made up of all kinds of angles and curves.

multiply

Which Means:

To add a given number or quantity to itself a certain number of times.

As In:

Image Can you multiply two times two?

Heads Up!

The words 'multiple' and 'multiply' have the same root.

negative

Which Means:

Related to a number or quantity less than zero.

As In:

Image This number line shows the negative numbers.

Heads Up!

Negative can also mean unpleasant or pessimistic: negative feedback, negative comments.

Hear It!

discount

Which Means:

To take away from the normal or full price of something.

As In:

Image During a sale, the store will discount the toys and sell them at a cheaper price.

Heads Up!

The prefix DIS- means to take away.
