Dr. Goodword contemplates a Good WordIt is managed Dr. Robert Beard, the former CEO of and The Lexiteria, companies which he founded in 1999 and 2004, respectively. Dr. Beard has a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Michigan and taught Russian and Linguistics at Bucknell University from 1965-2000. He is the author of six books and many articles on linguistics in which he develops a complete theory of morphology (the study of words) called Lexeme-Morpheme Base Morphology. This theory is still being explored by other linguists and his Separation Hypothesis, the hypothesis that the meaning and sounds of words are processed as separate mental operations, is widely accepted in the field of Linguistics today. At Dr.Beard wrote the articles and words of the day under the pseudonym of Dr. Language. At alphaDictionary, he is the good Dr. Goodword.

Building our websites and keeping them runningOur Head Systems Administrator and chief software developer is Andrew Shaffer, who created the inventive search engine and rich functionality of the Word of the Day feature for before creating all the software for the alphaDictionary and Lexiteria websites. Andrew has a BA in computer science from Cornell University (Magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa). He appealed to us because he had worked on an NSF-funded research project on automated reasoning that involved crossword puzzle construction and co-authored two professional articles as an undergraduate.
