Graffiti

Lately this word has been popping up for me. First, I used it while out with my 7 yr old grandson, pointing some graffiti out on a bridge. He had never heard the word before. Then later that week I heard it came from an Italian word meaning "scratch or to scratch". And in today's Good Word...

Nidifugous

I am reading a book ("The Tender Bar") in which the main character loves big words...when he mentioned "Nidifugous"..I thought "Really? that is a word?" LOL But when I saw the definition, it made sense:a bird who leaves the nest early I knew "nido" is "ne...

quixotic

today's Good word, "picaresque" put me in mind of another that originated in Spanish literature, "quixotic"..from good ol' Don Quixote...(Quixote/Quijote...due to the old confusion of x and j..like in "Mexico/Mejico")
"noble but impractical"
