I think I may have suggested this before. The -im ending is interesting, but I can't find any convincing etymology online. Any ideas?

Can it be that this word still hasn't made the Good Word collection?

So many musical instruments have interesting names: from violoncello, saxophone and pianoforte/fortepiano to ocarina and didgeridoo. Some names, like the instruments, are more melodious than others.

Today's frowsty set me travelling through etymologies and the word nutmeg caught my attention.

Interesting past tense with a single t

Doesn't it look like a past tense of Bide ? - bide, bode, bidden

Checking on "The wind bloweth where it listeth", I was surprised at how many meanings this little word holds.

Sadly, a word still needed today.
