Re: Obmablulate

Is there a difference between obambulate and perambulate? Any reason to choose one over the other?

Suggestion: add a 'favorites' button

Have you considered adding a 'Favourites' button? I would love to be able to easily access a list of my Favourites words from the daily "Goodwords" and their history/meaning.

Re: Is there such a word?

I think ponderous is the closest yet, thought it carries the sense of heavy, as in the topic. Plodding is also quite close, though it can lend the implication that the speaker is not bright. Wow! I can't believe there isn't a perfect word. Perhaps I will just try to avoid such speakers and then I wo...

Is there such a word?

I'm looking for a word that describes a style of speaking that is slow, methodical, plodding, deliberate, drawn out.

We seem to have migrated to defending Asians as nice people. It was never my intent to imply otherwise. I would simply like to know if it's acceptable to refer to them as Oriental. I believe I have heard of us as being occidentals. And, really, what would be wrong with that? I don't understand the bias against calling Asians, "Orientals".

I was wondering why the noun form was bubaboo, but I'm guessing that Asians don't like to be labelled with a name that oreints them (pun unintended) with reference to 'The West'.
Or is there another reason?

Hi back, Philip Hudson. And thank you for the welcome. I've been enjoying the word-of-the-day for months but this was my first successful forum post. I usually read the word-of-the-day on my iphone and trying to post on the forum requires navigating a lot of very tiny print on the phone screen. My p...

I thought it odd that the example sentence that was supposed to demonstrate "lapidate's" literal usage didn't use the word at all. I would like to know how it would be used in this sentence. Would the word,"stoning", be replaced by lapidation? [quote: This word is seldom used exc...
