I was born on Bainbridge Isle, raised in Alaska and moved back to Washington state 28 years ago. Growing up I pronounced Wash "Warsh". When I moved back to Washington I tried hard for years to pronounce wash without the "r" and then I just gave in. It's kind of like two languages...
