Suzie, I love the saturation of color in your photos, the sheen off the dog's coat is wonderful, and the mist on the waterfall-lovely! I must say I had a good laugh at your quip "Just in case Daniel Figueroa is not a figment of my imagination".

Also, I always look forward to the In Play section people's names to see if I can figure them out or not.

You are making me hungry, Palewriter! The best BBQ in the south (my opinion) is right next door to me. No joke. The smell gets you on the weekends (which is when they are open).

Putting in my 2 cents (a little late perhaps), BBQ is chicken or pork and served with BBQ sauce. Steak is grilled.

Yonder is used frequently here, and since my grandparents were farmers all their lives, I do know how much a "mess" is.

It told me I was from the Midwest, perhaps Pennsylvania. Funny because I am a "born and raised" Floridian and have never been to PA.

On 2nd notice, I took the Floridian test #1 and it says I am pure. Also, my husband took the accent test and it said he must be from Florida! lol

Gailr, that's what I thought. I cannot imagine myself saying, "He really likes to lard his stories," without picturing "him" smearing it with animal fat.

Stargzr, funny joke!

lard

Here's a word I hadn't thought of past the cooking aspect. Dictionary.com has it has a noun and a verb with some very interesting meanings. I had never heard of "embellish" as a synonym of "lard", nor had I thought to use it as a verb. Surprising, since I am from the south. Plus,...

Re: A (Cold) Drank?

In central NC where I was raised it was simply a drink [drank] as opposed to a "hard drink". A drink could be a Co-Cola, a Little Orange, a Big Orange (Neehi), a Pepsi, RC Cola (very popular down south). I never heard "coke" until I came north--well, except in movies and on radi...

Thank you so much for the link. No wonder pop seems right for me. Actually, the editor in me wanted a comma after the word sled and the word hills but hey, some might not like commas.
