Re: Esurient

It is slang, and seems to have many meanings, none that I found specifically referring to food, but many sharing one characteristic, that being affirmation.

It is hard to incorporate new slang, I find.

Re: Esurient

Looking at various "slang" dictionaries, I can only say, it is slang, and it seems to be used in many ways, but a common theme is that it is an emphatic positive.

Re: Fomite

If you click on the pronunciation, it is "...mite".
"ai" in the pronunciation guides, is long i sound.
It is at times hard for me to recognize that, as it often doesn't "look" like that sound, but I'm trying hard to remember it.

Re: Fomite

What is the difference in pronunciation of the two?
phrag vs. fo is more than pronunciation, no?
mites and mites seem to be pronounced the same?
What am I missing here?

And since the word quote is from John Gardner in Wreckage of Agathon (1970) may I beg a boon? From the same work, the word "seraboidal", I've got nowhere trying to find a definition, let alone an etymology. Can anyone help? My searches led to nothing at all, or the quote from the book that...
