Odd construction

I have been reading Duff Cooper (a caddish 30's-50's politician) and he uses the phrase: 'I thought her not so pretty'. Has anyone else seen this before?

Yes, in the West Midlands (mainly Black Country, less so Birmingham). As strange as that may seem they pronounce 'you' and 'yam'.

'Youse' is probably the best approximation to the manner in which 'you've' is pronounced in many parts of England.

This word vexes me because I have seen it denoted with two seperate meanings - firstly the manner in which one walks, and secondly simply relating to one's general conduct and bearing.
