"Lamentations" always brings to mind the lamentatione Ieremiae (the Lamentations of Jeremiah), as well as Henry Purcell 's famous aria, "Dido's Lament", from his opera Dido and Aeneas . "Dido's Lament" is such a moving piece... Although I haven't read anything to corrob...

Technically, it is incorrect, as the ir- prefix is negating; so, basically, "irregardless" means "not regardless"... But everyone who hears it knows the speaker means the same thing as "regardless".

The sesqui- means 'half-again as much', in Latin. The -pedalian refers to 'feet'. So these are foot-and-a-half terms... In effect it is calling these terms unmanageable.
