Fun interesting thread...from living among rocks to looking at distant glowing ones...feet on the ground and head in the stars.

I would think it would be the only reference to turn up on that search engine as it was simply a weak attempt at word play.

Very weak.

So weak it obviously wasn't seen as play at all.

Please forgive my assault upon the English language and feed me to a sault of lions.

Perhaps "a sault of lions" isn't used, but I believe "an assault of lions" could be accurate...perhaps "by lions" would be more so.

I'm curious, just what is a morainic lake? The Finger Lakes in Upstate NY are glacially formed, but very, very far from morainic. Where would we find such a creature? You'll find quite a few in the Cascades of Washington and Oregon. Usually smaller lakes between the moraine (or amongst it, as morai...

Frog gigging is real...some states regulate it by licensing. Some of the bullfrogs down here get about the size of chihuahuas. I like frog legs, but as posted earlier, don't care for the process. As far as obeisance being a pejorative...no, not in my opinion. Negative connotations? Certainly. Americ...

Is there a name sadder than Dolores, which means sorrows or pains in Latin and Spanish? Yes, my grandmother's name...Elsie Odeline. Really. Then, she married Lerman, my grandpa. Both beautiful names, huh? The funniest real names of people I've personally known were Forrest Wood. The third. Yup, the...

Apparently both have been around for a long time...it is supposed that is how Abel met his demise...since this was pre-CSI we're not sure if it was a cudgel or a rock.

Interesting post pointing out an interesting aspect of that word.
The only think I can remotely think of is that there must have been some attempt at equating thinking hard, forcing some info or idea out of a brain with beating someone or something.

That is odd.

Good post, sardith.

Yes, I understand that is the chief way of doing it, but in my neck of the woods, there are not always three. Just two, despite the name. And sometimes the Cornish is inside the chicken, making it four. Wouldn't that make it a turduckencorn? Shoot, let's just completely go nuts and add a hot dog in...
