masher

Can anyone tell me the origin of the word "masher" to refer to a man who pursues women a bit too avidly? Thanks.

Well, from what I gather from dictionary.com and its various contributors, Masher, it would seem to be related to the idea of pressing. Potatoes are pressed, i.e. squeezed, to make a mash. In the same way, a male "presses" a female to, um, er, well, you get the point.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
