Firgun

Postby Pattie » Wed Jul 05, 2017 1:18 am

Dear Dr Goodword,

I have come across a truly wonderful word: firgun, which is Hebrew and means a genuine delight in the accomplishment of someone else; sort of the antonym of schadenfreude. I first met it, of all places, in a sports article in the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/science/com ... ith-firgun

I thought I'd let you know now, well in advance of 17 July which is, apparently, international firgun day, a day for us all to exhibit a little firgun and, perhaps, make the world a cheerier place.

Enjoy!

Now, if someone could clue me in on how to pronounce it, that would be great.
