Thrust

It appears threat and thrust have the same PIE origin in “treud”. They share the sense of push and press.

This reminds me of being confronted by a door in a Scandinavian country (I think Denmark, but am not sure) which had "tryk" on one side and "truk" on the other. Since there were only two possibilities that would result in its opening, it didn't take long to figure out. But it was rather a surprise to an Anglophone.

It seems like both words may have the same origin, and perhaps the one mentioned here. But I haven't been able to find an online reference localizing both in the same area. (Most attempts to localize "truk" simply offer up references to "truck", which is quite unrelated.)
