Good word suggestion: Hunker

In today's news about the coronavirus we are all told to "hunker down". The word "hunker" seems strange. It rhymes with "clunky" and it's hard to grasp what this word has to do with isolation, although it seems to suggest crouching or even hiding. But even without understanding it very well I like the word and I think we all would like to know more about it. Hence I suggest it as topic for your "Word of the Day".
