Mead

Postby tkowal » Sun Apr 12, 2020 10:00 am

Mead: alcoholic drink made out of honey, used to be very popular in Eastern Europe. Certainly related to the Slavic word for honey: med (or myed) in Russian, miód in Polish. I guess the word used in Romance languages might also be related: miel in French and Spanish, mel in Portuguese.

With meadow, meliphagous, and mellifluous all being done, it would be nice to see how this one ties in. Anyone else?

I,m guessing they all come from ''meli'' the Greek word for honey.
