Regimen

Postby William Hupy » Mon Apr 13, 2020 8:18 am

I hadn’t bothered, until now, to examine if regimen and regiment are related. They are. From Latin, regere, to rule. A regimen is a course of diet or exercise for the sake of health. We can easily see how an army regiment required rules and discipline.

We can toss in plain old regime and have a well-organized three-fer salad.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
