Implicit

Postby William A Hupy » Tue Oct 27, 2020 11:54 am

Interesting how the original Latin meaning, entangled, confused, involved, evolved to about four senses in English.
1. implied though not plainly expressed.
2. essentially or very closely connected with; always to be found in.
3. with no qualification or question; absolute, as in : I have implicit trust in the scientific advice of the president.

And

4. In mathematics, a function not expressed directly in terms of independent variables.

I can see how it evolved. If the original meant interwoven, mixed in, the sense is rather implicitly implied, no? :-)
