Cheugy

Postby David Myer » Wed May 05, 2021 11:50 pm

Well, this article in today's The Age in Melbourne introduces us to a very useful new word. Cheug or Cheugy. https://www.theage.com.au/lifestyle/lif ... 57p7f.html

I am not a cheug because I am not still hanging on to a fashion after it has passed. I find that in fact, I don't actually latch on to a fashion in the first place, until after it has passed.

Does that make me a cheug cheug?

Well, this is a surprise. It turns out this word is well-enough-known to be used in a New Yorker cartoon:

Thanks to David, I actually got this one. I'd never come across the term before he posted it, so this would have flown so far above me, I wouldn't have even known it was there.
